Injury Report

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin 11/4 Tuesday Press Conference, TE Miller Doubtful

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday in his weekly press conference that there is still no news on starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and his injured shoulder. Roethlisberger is scheduled for a noon appointment to get his shoulder looked at. Tomlin stated that tight end Heath Miller will likely be doubtful this week with an ankle sprain. Other injuries noted by Tomlin were punter Mitch Berger with a a hamstring strain, safety Tyrone Carter with an ankle injury, back up running back Najeh Davenport has a hamstring injury, wide receiver Hines Ward dinged his shoulder. Berger, Carter, Davenport and Ward will likely miss practice time early in the week. Tomlin looks to get safety Ryan Clark and linebacker Keyaron Fox back this week. Tackle Marvel Smith and cornerback Bryant McFadden will have their injury status looked at later in the week, but at this time there is no new news on both. Starting running back Willie Parker and nose tackle Casey Hampton made it through the game fine and will likely be rested early in the week to get ready for the Indianapolis Colts.

Tomlin praised the play of Byron Leftwich and his defense. Tomlin stated that bumps and bruises are part of the game. Tomlin refused to speculate whether or not Leftwich will start this week to give Roethlisberger a week off to recover, but reading between the lines sounded like he was leaning that way.
