Steelers HC Mike Tomlin 12/9 Tuesday Press Conference, DE Keisel Closer, FB Davis Questionable

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin held is weekly Tuesday press conference today from the South Side to discuss the upcoming game versus the Baltimore Ravens and Sunday\’s game versus the Dallas Cowboys.

Tomlin started by saying the Ravens record is still no reflection of how they are playing, they are better than their record. Mentioned that the Ravens have only lost once at home this year and that was to the Titans. Mentioned the Steelers have not won their the last five trips to Baltimore. Tomlin mentioned they run the ball well with Le\’Ron McClain and control the clock well. Tomlin praised Ravens receiver Mark Clayton for finding his flow and providing a spark. He also said rookie quarterback Joe Flacco is much more comfortable in the offense. Tomlin went on to praise Ray Lewis and company on defense, especially the play of linebacker Jarret Johnson.

Injury wise, Tomlin said the only new injury was to fullback Carey Davis, who suffered a calf strain and is termed as questionable at this time and will unlikely practice on Wednesday. Defensive end Brett Keisel is closer to being ready and warrants consideration of playing this week. Tackle Marvel Smith is still status quo with his back injury and will be out once again. Tomlin said several veterans might be given the day off on Wednesday along with a few other players with minor bumps and bruises. Tomlin said there is not an issue with the thumb of Ben Roethlisberger.

Tomlin said the team is very grounded and are not patting themselves on the back and understand the magnitude of this week\’s game versus the Ravens. Tomlin said the Steelers just didn\’t get a chance to run the ball against Dallas because of being behind.
