The most concerning in the short term is Mundy. If he isn't prepared to step in this year and do the job for an injured starter (Troy or Ryan), then we may have a problem. Of course there is Tyrone Carter ahead of him, but with only 4 safties on the roster, one injury really forces the issue. Has anyone noticed if Deshea Townsend has practiced at either safty position? At his age, it seems like a smart consideration. All the other 2008 draft class members play positions that have enough depth that these guys have the luxury of still developing themselves in 2009, even if a starter goes down. As Coach Chuck Knoll used to say, you should really know by year 3 if your draft picks have panned out, or not. But it is fun for all of us to grade the draft class of 2008 after one full year and training camp. The rest of the pre-season and regular season should be very telling. I generally agree.
