Steelers Six From Around The Web – Thursday August 6th

What is it about Penn State players and short arms? Defensive tackle Scott Paxson seems to be the original T-Rex on the team, not rookie offensive lineman A.Q. Shipley.

Looks like Charlie Batch has been pretty much already given the number two quarterback job and Dennis Dixon the number three spot. Not surprising, but I was hoping that Dixon would of at least made Batch earn it. Still a ways to go, but I am scared to death if Big Ben were to go down for an extended period of time.

I like the nastiness of undrafted free agent tackle Ramon Foster. He was involved in yet another skirmish on Wednesday. Seems this time it was with linebacker Arnold Harrison. Foster reportedly has had multiple after the whistle altercations since camp opened. I think he is quickly earning some respect, but it is important he does not flash it in pre-season games.

Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley says he can still improve on his outside linebacker play in the 3-4 defense according to Dale Lolley. Woodley and fellow outside linebacker James Harrison are going to be a nasty combo again this season.

The hype machine on receiver Limas Sweed continues to get bigger. Steelers.com has a small story on him this morning. He has huge shoes to fill in as the Steelers are not deep with experience at the wide receiver position. It looks like Sweed, McDonald and Wallace will look to ease the lose of Nate Washington.

The Bengals and the Ravens are both struggling with key position injuries thus far in training camp. The Bengals have already lost starting tight Reggie Kelley to an ACL injury and backup tight end Ben Utecht suffered a nasty concussion on Wednesday. The Ravens have lost starting wide receiver Mark Clayton to a hamstring injury for a lengthy time and back up receiver Demetrius Williams watched Thursday’s morning practice from the sideline with an undisclosed injury.
