Jim Wexell is reporting that Steelers defensive end Aaron Smith will undergo surgery on his right rotator cuff on Friday. Smith will reportedly be lost for an estimated 3 months of time as he recuperates. It is not yet known if Smith will be placed on injured reserve yet or be shelved on the roster until around playoff time. Head coach Mike Tomlin said in his Tuesday press conference that a committee of Ziggy Hood, Travis Kirschke and Nick Eason will be used to replace Smith during his absence.
