Though JC sounds like Jesse Ventura, a conspiracy theorist, I applaud everything your saying. Banking, Wall Street, Corporate USA, baseball, and thats right NFL, are all manipulated.

However, with the Steelers having such a huge following you may see some funny things manifest this weekend!

Exactly, this was a gift from the NFL to the Jets. They want a team from their largest market area in the Playoffs. Now with the Giants out they need to get the Jets in it.

There is no other reason to move the Bengals vs Jets game to 8:30. The Eagles vs Cowboys would have a much better draw at that timeframe. Playing for the division championship.

The NFL gives a BS line that they have to move an equal number of AFC games as NFC and they have moved more NFC games so this will help towards equaling it out.

Dan Rooney should have been on the phone to Goodell the first thing this morning complaining about it. Losing fairly on the field is one thing, but losing the chance at a playoff spot because of backroom manipulation of the start time of games for marketing purposes is another.

Broncos fans should be equally unhappy.

do ou realize if the pats win sunday then the bengals will call off all the starters sunday night against the Jets. If the Texans win it will be over anyway. Because the Pats and Begals will fight for the # 3 seed and with the games being at 2 differnt times. It will effect everything.

This realy stinks. The Jets were already given one win by the Colts and now they will probably be given another win by Cinci. Cinci doesn’t want to face the Steelers or Ravens in the first playoff game so they will most likely take the coward way out and give the game to the NY Jets in week 17 so they can face them in the first game of the playoffs.

Our only shot is if the Raiders can pull a serious upset over the Ravens!

Vegas Line just opened with the Bengals +9 against the Jets. Anyone think that the Jets would be giving points if the Bengals had something to play for at 1:00?

Hate to break it everyone, but there is only 1 playoff spot open for the Steelers, Ravens, Broncos and Texans to fight over. The NFL has made it clear that they want a team from the largest market in the playoffs. WIth the Giants out of it, its is going to be the Jets.

By changing the game time for the Bengals vs Jets game to 8:30 from 1:00, all the Bengals have to do is watch what happens with NE. If NE wins the Bengals can’t get the #3 spot and they will have nothing to play for thereby resting their best players and not showing the Jets too much as they will be playing the Jets the following weekend at home in the first round of the playoffs.

The Ravens have the inside track, the Steelers need for the Raiders to pull off the upset and NE to beat the Texans. The Jets are a lock.

If Houston wins then Baltimore, NYJ, and Denver all have to loose for us to get 6 seed.

Here are my thoughts on Steelers Playoff Chances.

All we need at least is

Scenario A

1.Get 9-7
2. Ravens and Texans Loss
which makes Steelers, Broncos and Jets 9-7. Jets edge out the remaining 2 on conference record (Steelers ) and Strength of Schedule (Broncos), then it goes back to head to head tie breaker where Steelers edge out Broncos

Scenario B

1.Get 9-7
2. Jets and Texans Loss
which makes Steelers, Broncos and Ravens 9-7. Ravens first edge out Steelers (Division) and then Broncos (head to head), then it goes back to head to head tie breaker where Steelers edge out Broncos

Scenario C
1.Get 9-7
2. Any 3 teams losses among Jets, Texans, Ravens, Broncos
which makes Steelers one of only 2 9-7 teams

A loss by Jets and Ravens only does not help us because in that case Steelers head to head tie breaker would not hold true as Broncos would eliminate Texans and Steelers first on Conference record and then Texans would eliminate Steelers on Conference record.

Lets hope Raiders can shock Ravens but the real thing comes down to is how much Patriots, Bengals give weight to Number 3 seeding and having momentum which makes them play their starters.

I agree with esmith. Not sure why Denver is included at all. Steelers own head-to-head tiebreaker over them. The opening paragraph says the Texans have to lose which isn’t true. Steelers need two of three (Jets, Ravens, and Texans) to lose. Denver is none factor since they lost head-to-head. If Texans and Steelers are both 9-7 (6-6 in Conference), Texans have a better record against common oppponents.

Of course the Colts realy screwed up the entire playoff scenario. They just laid down and lost to the Jets. They should have played for the perfect season, but by laying down like that they let a lesser team into the playoffs who may not have deserved it. There is a good possibilty that Cinci will do the same thing and let the Jets win so that they won’t have to face the Steelers in the playoffs. If Cinci looses then they are the #4 seed and play against the #5 seed which is currently the Jets; which would be an easy win for Cinci.

I appreciate the info. Apparently Texans own tie breaker vs. Steelers, though I am not sure why since they both would have 6-6 conference records, yet steelers would have better division record. Since Steelers own head-to-head tiebreaker(trumps all other tie breakers) vs. Denver, I don’t see why they figure in your final scenario at all.
