Steelers Six From Around The Web – Tuesday January 12th

The mother of Steelers linebacker James Harrison is expected in court on Monday. She is one of three people charged in connection with the brawl at a VFW Hall in Akron, Ohio, during the Steelers game with the Cleveland Browns in December.

Speaking of James Harrison, John Harris reports that Harrison\’s role changed somewhat in 2009, as he became more responsible for dropping into pass coverage. That resulted in fewer opportunities for him to pass rush. Couple that with un called holding calls and a late season injury, could explain his drop in numbers.

I broke the news yesterday that practice squad center A.Q. Shipley had signed with the Eagles. Shipley told me via Twitter that he was offered a deal by the Steelers, but the offer by Eagles was a better opportunity of making the roster with Philadelphia. Best of luck to Ship.

Post Gazette blogger Bob Smizik continues to aggravate the Bruce Arians haters in his latest blog post. The comments will be plenty on this post.

Hold off on Bobby April being the next Steelers special teams coach as he is in high demand since opting out of his contract with the Bills. April is being interviewed by the 49ers today.

Steelers.com has a great video on Hall of Fame hopeful Dermontti Dawson. It is fun to look back at some of this footage. Hopefully thwe voters see it as well.
