Steelers Six From Around The Web – Thursday April 22nd

Following the suspension that was handed down by Roger Goodell to Ben Roethlisberger, Art Rooney II met with the media via conference call to answer a few questions. You can listen to the whole call here.

Steve Corkran of the Oakland Tribune reports that a Raiders employee confirmed the Raiders indeed contacted the Steelers about suspended quarterback Ben Roethlisberger but didn\’t make an offer to them. The employee added the Raiders are unwilling to trade their #8 overall pick for Roethlisberger and that the Steelers aren\’t interested in throwing in their #18 pick to sweeten the deal.

Trent Dilfer said that if the Steelers indeed traded Roethlisberger he thinks they would have to draft a quarterback in the first round. I disagree and do not think the Steelers have to draft one of the projected 1st rounders. I do not think they are that enamored with any of them.

The Las Vegas woman who first accused Ben Roethlisberger of sexual assault has said through her attorney that she\’s no longer willing to settle her civil suit under previously offered conditions.

Ed Bouchette thinks like many of us that Florida center Maurkice Pouncey could be the pick today for the Steelers if they stay at #18. They might could even move back a few picks and still get him. This is by no way a lock as we have seen with previous Steelers drafts.
