Emmanuel Sanders is still growing up. Has to hold on to the football and will be a good return man if he does. Certainly understands he has to block. Also seemed to take that 4th down pass away from Hines Ward.
The challenge was a bad one obviously on the Antwaan Randle El play. Didn't even look close.
The offensive line really did not do their jobs down on the goal-line. You have to get the push there and own it. Taking 3 was a huge killer. I do not understand bringing Doug Legursky in cold for that.
The Saints really were conscious of taking away the deep ball. Those gap blitzes were

Injuries always make the inactive list a bit easier to predict. This week Aaron Smith is out and Brett Keisel is all but out for his second straight week. Steve McLendon was promoted earlier today to the 53 man roster and rookie linebacker Thaddeus Gibson was waived. Below are the eight players we expect to see on the Steelers inactive list released 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday night against the New Orleans Saints.
QB Charlie Batch - Byron Leftwich remains the #2 and Batch the emergency #3. You think the Cowboys would kill to have either of these two guys right now?
DE Brett Keisel

The World Champion New Orleans Saints are coming off of a surprising loss against the Browns while the Steelers road trip continues after a win against the Dolphins. This is the 2nd game of 3 game road trip for the Steelers and will be played in a supercharged Superdome on Halloween night in front of a national television audience. Below are what we deem to be 7 keys to the game for the Steelers to beat the Saints in week 8 down in the Big Easy and move to 6-1 on the season.
Good Look Under The Hood - Yes it is an obvious factor in this game. Yes the media and and every blogger has talked about

As expected with all the injuries on the defensive line, the Steelers promoted defensive lineman Steve McLendon from the practice squad to the 53 man roster and waived rookie linebacker Thaddeus Gibson. This is the 3rd time McLendon has been activated this year as he was signed off the practice squad for the games against the Titans and the Ravens this season. He recorded a fumble recovery against the Titans and did not see any action against the Ravens. He will likely be rotated in Sunday night against the Saints with both defensive ends Aaron Smith and Brett Keisel sidelined with injuries.

The Steelers wrapped up practice preparations on Friday for their week 8 game Sunday Night against the New Orleans Saints down in the Big Easy. T Flozell Adams (ankle) and LB LaMarr Woodley (hamstring) both practiced fully again on Friday and both are listed as probable on the injury report. DE Brett Keisel (hamstring) did not practice on Friday again and is listed as doubtful. He will likely try to see how it feels on gameday, but right now it does not look good for him playing. DE Aaron Smith (triceps) is of course listed as out this week. C Maurkice Pouncey (illness) returned to practice on

Mike Bires of the Beaver County Times is reporting that Trai Essex will move back into the starting lineup at right guard Sunday night against the New Orleans Saints. Essex is recovered from an early season sprained ankle suffered in week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. Essex had been replaced in the starting lineup by Doug Legursky and has struggled some in those starts. Essex was close to being ready last week, but the coaching staff wanted to be cautious of bringing him back too soon so he was held out again in Miami.
In other injury news, right defensive end Brett Keisel will miss his second

The NFL Pro Bowl voting is now open and you can vote online for your favorite Steelers player. Lawrence Timmons deserves a trip to Hawaii as do a few others on the team. Vote early and make sure your friends vote too.
All the money is being totaled up that was sent in to show support for the James Harrison fine and will be sent to Harrison's charity, Sacks For Kids. Word is supposed to be put out about just how much was donated. Great job by Steeler Nation.
Scott Brown reports that the Steelers are expected to blitz Saints quarterback Drew Brees often to keep him from getting in a rhythm.

Is it the long lost brother of Troy Polamalu? Hines Polamalu? Nope it was just Steelers receiver Hines Ward clowning around on Thursday and wearing a Polamalu hair wig. You can click the picture below to watch the short interview.

The Steelers practiced again on Thursday and had some good news on the injury front as LB LaMarr Woodley (hamsting) and T Flozell Adams both practiced after sitting out on Wednesday. DE Brett Keisel (hamstring) sat out again and is looking iffy for Sunday night down in New Orleans, but there is a long ways to go on that decision. C Maurkice Pouncey (illness) was added on the injury report Thursday as he sat out with an illness. DE Aaron Smith (triceps) of course did not practice and is ruled out for several weeks right now, he is targeting 4-6 weeks to return from his partially torn triceps that

Emmanuel Sanders was named the AFC Special Teams Player Of The Week on Wednesday and maybe backup quarterback Byron Leftwich had something to do with it.
Manny also sat down with Joe Starkey and discusses a number of topics on 93.7 The Fan. He talked about his jersey number and the game last week against the Dolphins.
Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel didn't practice on Wednesday, but is hopeful to play against the Saints on Halloween night at the Superdome.

The Steelers officially began practice on Wednesday for the week 8 game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night down in the Big Easy. The injured player list begins with DE Aaron Smith (triceps) who will be out several weeks following surgery on Monday to repair a partially torn triceps muscle. Smith will not be placed on injured reserve for now as the team hopes to wait out his rehab. DE Brett Keisel (hamstring) and LB LaMarr Woodley (hamstring) both did not practice on Wednesday and both are not moving around too good according to reports. Keisel injured his hamstring against the Browns

Below is the Steelers week 7 defensive participation chart versus the Miami Dolphins from this past Sunday. Please comment with any discrepancies you find. A few things you will notice is that rookie linebacker Jason Worilds played left outside linebacker in the nickel passing downs as a pass rusher mostly while Lawrence Timmons played inside when LaMarr Woodley went down with a hamstring injury. On other downs, Timmons played the left outside spot and Larry Foote filled in inside for Timmons. Also do not get caught up who played where on the defensive line when Aaron Smith went down. The Steelers
