Breaking Down The Week 7 Sacks Allowed Against Miami Dolphins

The Steelers allowed 3 sacks Sunday against the Miami Dolphins and we have the breakdowns of all three of them below in animated gif form. If you click on either of the images, you can see the full size replay on NFL.com.

The first sack occurred on the Steelers first official possession as Cameron Wake sacked Ben Roethlisberger on a stunt in which he swung inside as fellow linebacker Koa Misi took an inside rush on left guard Chris Kemoeatu and left tackle Max Starks. Defensive lineman Randy Starks lined up over center Maurkice Pouncey but at the snap dropped back off the line. Pouncey had no one to block and made the quick decision to help right where it really was not needed. Had he helped left, he would of been able to likely get a body on Wake. I am pinning this a half sack each on Pouncey and Kemoeatu. It really was nicely disguised stunt and well executed.

The second sack is a jail break as the Dolphins send six including linebacker Misi on a delay and safety Chris Clemons. Running back Mewelde Moore chooses to help left and right tackle Jonathan Scott is blown past around the end as well by cornerback Sean Smith. Moore could of done a better job in recognition, but they were coming from everywhere. Hard to place exact blame so we will charge the whole line here and Moore. Tell me who you charge here.

In the third sack, Starks rides Misi wide enough really, but Kemoeatu gets bull rushed and pushed back into the pocket by Tony McDaniel. While Roethlisberger is trying to step around it, Wake is busy beating Scott to the middle to help mop up the sack with McDaniel. In the end though it is charged to Kemoeatu.
