Gerry Dulac reports that unless Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin today who will back-up Ben Roethlisberger at quarterback, it may very well remain a mystery until game day. My money is on Charlie Batch right now as he has earned it and Byron Leftwich could use the extra time to continue to rehab that knee.

THE PPG Plus blog is great and this morning Ed Bouchette offers up a few Chuck Noll lightning stories in honor of the delayed start time last night due to lightning.

Back-up nose tackle Chris Hoke returned to practice Monday after injuring his knee against Tampa Bay and missing the last two weeks of practice. Right guard Trai Essex also returned to practice in a limited capacity after missing a few weeks with a sprained ankle. Essex likely has lost the starting job to Doug Legursky during his down time.

Wide receiver Mike Wallace may be growing up as he has cut that silly looking Mohawk hairstyle he had worn since making the team last season.

I saw this over the weekend but forgot to post it Monday. Congressman Tom Rooney, the nephew of Dan Rooney, said the Steelers indeed shopped Ben Roethlisberger but were unable to find any takers. He was not excited about the return of Roethlisberger to the team after his rocky offseason.

Mark Madden chimed in for the Beaver County Times on how he thinks the NFL must suspend Vikings quarterback Brett Favre after the way the Ben Roethlisberger situation was handled. Penned as only Madden can do it.
