Jets Players Call Hines Ward Toughest Guy In League When Nobody Is Looking

New York Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine said during his Thursday AFC Championship Game press conference that Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward is known well in the Jets locker room and they are well aware of his reputation as they know what he is all about. Pettine notes that several of their players have faced him before and they call Ward the toughest guy in league, when nobody is looking. You can hear the exchange in the audio clip below from the Thursday presser or watch the complete presser here.

Hines Ward is a a hell of a football player. Been proving it on Sundays for a long time. I know a lot of people don’t care for him, but most of them are the ones he has knocked on their asses. Hines is not chicken shit, and scared of contact like most receivers in the league. This is the NFL, gotta keep your head on a swivel, or risk getting it knocked off. Here We Go Steelers!!!

Faulk on the NFL channel last night didded Hines also. Faulk said the Jets could cover Hines with a line backer as slow as he is. I would love to see them try that!
