2010 Playoffs

Heath Miller Super Bowl XLV Post Game Press Conference

(on what went wrong with the game) “It’s hard to say. I think we played a really good football team. You have to give Green Bay a lot of credit. I’m proud of the way our guys in the locker room…the heart and determination they played with, but ultimately we got in too deep of a hole to start the game and we weren’t able to climb out of it.”

(on how much Rashard Mendenhall’s fumble changed the game) “I’m not sure at what point in the game that happened. If I’m not mistaken, Green Bay went down and scored to go up by two scores after that. It’s getting late in the game, so we kind of have to press and put points on the board. It’s unfortunate. Green Bay did a good job capitalizing on our miscues today. I think they got points off of every turnover if I’m not mistaken, so we’ve got to give them credit for that.”

(on Ben Roethlisberger’s performance) “Ben had us in the game at the end. I think you have to give Green Bay credit. They did a good job and played really well. They capitalized on our mistakes. I think we had a short field a few times, and we weren’t able to capitalize. You have to give them credit for what they were able to do.”

(on the team’s turnovers) “You have to give Green Bay credit. They were able to force the turnovers. Not only that, they were able to capitalize on them and put points on the board, if I‘m not mistaken, after all the turnovers. We had a few short fields of our own, and we didn’t capitalize on it like we should have and they did, so you have to give them credit.”

(on if he believed the team had a chance to win on their last drive) “Yeah. You believe and you have faith every time, if you’ve got an opportunity, that you’re going to get the job done. Unfortunately, we came up a few yards short, didn’t convert the first down, so that’s the way it goes sometimes.”

(on what he’ll take away from the game) “It’s disappointing right now. I know one thing, I’m really proud to be a part of this team. I’m proud to be associated with this group of guys. I knew that coming in, and I think today just kind of proved that again. That’s probably what I’ll take away.”

(on if he felt he had any mistakes) “As a player, you play as hard as you can. You realize sometimes things aren’t going to go your way, so I have no regrets. To use the cliché, you leave it all on the field. You play as hard as you can. I think we did that as a team, and we were just a little short today.”

(on what Mike Tomlin said to the team after the game) “He didn’t really say a lot. There’s not a lot that could be said in this situation to comfort guys. We all know what’s at stake. We all know we kind of missed an opportunity to do something special, but it’s over and done with now.”

(on his reaction to the loss) “It’s tough. You play your whole season to give yourself this opportunity. That’s basically what it is. It’s an opportunity to accomplish your ultimate goal. We were this close, but we were short. I’m proud to be on this team, and you have to give Green Bay credit.”

(on if he knew how bad it might feel to be on the losing end) “I didn’t want to think about it. I didn’t want to feel it. Here we are. We were short. Like I said, you have to give the Packers credit. They played a good game. We weren’t able to dig ourselves out of the hole.”

(on if they wanted to be in the position to win with two minutes remaining) “We believed we were going to get the job done. We have faith in each other and we have faith in our quarterback. He’s done it so many times before, but give Green Bay credit today. They played a good game for 60 minutes. They deserved to win.”
