QUOTES FROM PITTSBURGH STEELERS PRESS CONFERENCE

LINEBACKER LAWRENCE TIMMONS

(on being the ‘silent’ guy on the defense) “I’m kind of to myself. I let everybody else be themselves and do my thing. I do like to play with these guys, they are great. I like the way James Harrison plays. He has all those big hits and the quarterback sacks; I feed off all that stuff.”

(on leading the team in tackles) “I just let my play talk for me. I’m not going to be the guy that jumps into the cameras and do all the talking. I’ve just never been that way.”

(on James Farrior saying Timmons is one of the best all-around athletes he has every played with) “I’m a player that can play behind the line of scrimmage, I love blitzing. I can also drop back in coverage.”

(on the differences in his play from two-years prior) “It’s totally different. Now, I am a starter and have a bigger part on the defense. It is different for me.”

(on his play) “I just play my role. I don’t make it more than it is and just enjoy what I do.”

(on what it means to be a member of the Steelers) “Everybody is pretty humble and grounded. It’s more of a family oriented team.”

(on if he considers the Steelers as a ‘throwback’ team) “I wouldn’t say ‘throwback’ team. We just have our own little style that’s different than the rest. Just like the city, it’s blue-collar. Everybody comes to work and does their job every day.”
