Steelers Six From Around The Web – Thursday March 24th – Two Rings Of Batch To Rule Them All Edition

It should be no surprise that Mike Tomlin is not against kicking tackle Willie Colon inside to guard. We have mentioned it several times here on this very blog as a possibility. This of course assumes he does not leave via free agency. The longer the labor dispute goes, the better the chance that Colon could be deemed a restricted free agent and sign that tender given him. Long way to go though. Tomlin went on to say that Colon and left tackle Max Starks are both progressing well health wise.

Steelers beat writer for the Tribune Review, Scott Brown, seems pretty confident that free agent cornerback Ike Taylor will be re-signed for the 2011 season. First though the NFL needs to get past this lockout and labor strife, but Brown thinks like I do, Ike wants to stay in Pittsburgh and the Steelers certainly want him to stay as well.

Batch previously filed for bankruptcy back in December.

Troy Polamalu and Twins catcher Joe Mauer will be throwing out the first pitch Friday night for the Fort Myers Miracle, a minor league affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. The Miracle are coached by Jake Mauer, the older brother of Joe and this seems to be some sort of Head and Shoulders type promotion as well. Mauer recently signed on to endorse the shampoo, just like Troy has done.

Teresa Varley has a “Where Are They Now?” story up on Steelers.com on former Steelers tackle Wayne Gandy. Gandy has a radio show every Monday night on ARMADAFM.com.
