Steelers Re-Sign CB Ike Taylor To 4 Year Deal

Ike Taylor SteelersSteelers unrestricted free agent cornerback Ike Taylor will not make to market as Adam Schefter is reporting via Twitter that he will likely end his career in Pittsburgh after agreeing to a new 4 year contract. Details of the contract are unavailable right now, but it means that Taylor is signed through the 2014 season. More info on the deal as I get it. Taylor will not officially be able to sign his contract until 6 p.m. on Friday per the new labor rules and will not be able to practice until Aug. 4 due to the stipulations of free agent signings. He is currently entering his 9th season with Steelers after being drafted in the fourth round of the 2003 draft.

Taylor had made it clear all offseason that his hope was to remain in Pittsburgh, but said he wanted market value. The Steelers have maintained all along that they wanted Taylor back as well and team president Art Rooney II reiterated yesterday in his press conference that Taylor was still a priority. Taylor will now help bridge the gap to the future after the Steelers drafted cornerbacks Curtis Brown and Cortez Allen back in April. The Steelers also have 2010 draft pick Crezdon Butler and 2009 draft pick Keenan Lewis on the roster, but neither contributed much last season.
