Baron Batch Carted Off With Apparent Knee Injury
Various media members are reporting via Twitter that Steelers 7th round draft pick Baron Batch had to be carried off field with what appears to be left knee injury. Ken Laird reports that Batch had just finished a nice 40-yard run and then pulled up. Trainers were reportedly working on his left knee and Batch can't put any pressure on it. we will update this post as we get more. Batch had been having a great rookie camp and was giving himself a strong shot to make the 53 man roster. Laird reports that Baron's face on cart said it all as he was shaking his head in disbelief. Several teammates went over to offer encouragement to Batch. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said it appears to be a serious knee injury. Batch reportedly caught his foot in the seem on the field turf practice field the Steelers were using due to all of the rain recently.
ETA: The early word I am getting from those at practice is that it is indeed an ACL injury of the left knee. We will not know for sure until they release the MRI results.
