Ike Taylor To Have Left Thumb Surgery On Tuesday – Batch ACL Surgery Wednesday

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said after practice on Sunday that starting right cornerback Ike Taylor will indeed have surgery on Tuesday to repair his broken left thumb. Taylor injured the thumb early in the Friday game against the Redskins and will be sidelined indefinitely. Before practice Taylor told reporters he was unsure if he would be having surgery and did not know if he would miss the week 1 game against the Ravens.

Tomlin also said after practice that rookie running back Baron Batch will have ACL surgery on his left knee on Wednesday. Batch tore it late in practice last Wednesday after getting his foot caught in the field turf as he was finishing a run. No contact was involved in that injury and Batch will be placed on injured reserve.

Tomlin didnt sound very concerned. I honestly think this is a cloud with silver lining, time for young guys to show what they have. If Gay has one more bad game like he did v Skins he might be getting be pushed outside the bubble and allow a Lewis or Butler to finally step up.

He can’t catch anyways. Put a cast on and just keep knocking the balls down
