Steelers Release Gray, Ellis, McCray & Brinkley

The Steelers made their needed cuts Tuesday morning to get in compliance with the league\’s mandated 80 man roster deadline of 4 p.m. ET today. Released this morning were nose tackle Anthony Gray, wide receiver Terrence McCray, cornerback Niles Brinkley and linebacker Chris Ellis. The roster now stands at 80 players. The initial moves had been made on Saturday as tight end Vaughn Charlton, cornerback Kevin Dockery, wide receiver Eric Greenwood and wide receiver Kenneth Moore were all released. Tight end Miguel Chavis was also waived/injured, while running back Baron Batch was placed on injured reserve.

The Steelers will play the Panthers on Thursday in their preseason finale and the final Steeler roster cuts will need to take place by Saturday as they get down to 53 active players on the roster. The Steelers are expected to make some of those moves starting on Friday.

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

that one is certainly a surprise

If the vikings release Chester Taylor (rumored) who wants him over moore?

  • X2006pbt

    er bears I mean lol

  • Steve Duncan

Not really. Moore knows the system and at this point either would just be holding the spot for a year until Batch gets healthy.

I had hoped Anthony Gray would of fared better this preseason. Casy Hampton is getting older and so is his backup!

All the other cuts were no surprise to me.

Surprised at Gray and McCrae…both have played well and felt both were prime candidates for PS
