Steelers Six From Around The Web – August 24th – McFadden Rumblings Louder Edition

I suggested a few days ago that Bryant McFadden could be the one out come final cut-downs and it seems that sentiment is picking up steam now as Dale Lolley now reports that rumblings are getting stronger that McFadden may indeed be the odd man.

Ike Taylor, Aaron Smith and Emmanuel Sanders were all back on the practice field Tuesday in some capacity. Taylor and Sanders will still be ruled out for the Saturday game against the Falcons.

Left guard Chris Kemoeatu said that he indeed plans to play Saturday against the Falcons after missing the first two games because of swelling in his knee.

Ben Roethlisberger, Byron Leftwich, and Charlie Batch all were interviewed by 93.7 The Fan and were asked what it takes to be an elite quarterback in the NFL in their eyes.

Trai Essex is of course now back with the Steelers and he talked about being back and how Roethlisberger helped push for his return.

I made my feelings known last night about making Troy Polamalu wait for his last contract and Ed Bouchette blogged his thoughts this morning and is on the complete opposite side.

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

Don’t know where you get your info, but right now McFadden is our starter! Seriously.

You might be surprised in a few weeks….

I’ve heard the McFadden rumors other places as well, and lets be honest, while McFadden knows the defense better than the young kids, the drop-off isn’t that great and the kids have higher ceilings. Especially if he can’t get healthy.

I would think that Lewis & another young guy are going to have to have two great games in the last 2 preseason games to even make that a possibility. True, DMac isn’t an outstanding corner, but he’s definitely better than what I’ve seen so far from anyone else (besides Ike). Last week was a good start, but it was one half of a preseason game, and let’s face it, Vick was playing terribly.

On the other hand, DMac costs something like $2.6M, much more than any other CB outside Ike, so if they think they have enough talent on the roster, it might be worth it for the cap savings.
