Steelers Sign Dorin Dickerson To Practice Squad

Scott Brown is reporting via Twitter that the Steelers have signed former University of Pittsburgh tight end Dorin Dickerson to the practice squad today. Dickerson worked out for the Steelers last week after being released by the Texan during the final roster cuts. The Texans drafted Dickerson in the 7th round of the 2010 draft and worked to convert him to wide receiver.

It is unknown if the Steelers plan to use Dickerson as a tight end or a wide receiver going forward. To make room on the practice squad tight end Jamie McCoy was released.

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

I think you answered your question since they released a TE.

This signing doesn’t surprise me at all!! After all it’s a area of least concern right now! If the Steelers would WORRY about what we need on the O-line and DBs as much as they worry about TEs we’d be much better off!!! How often is the TE used? Heath Miller I think caught 42 passes last year! I repeat 42 catches! If Miller caught 80+ passes and the #2 TE caught 40+ passes I could see the worry about the need for a TE!!

Maybe if Colon is indeed going to miss some playing time like I’ve heard and the way they played in the Ravens game maybe then something will be done about the O-Line!!
