The Terrible Podcast – Seahawks Beat Writer Eric Williams Episode

Steelers PodcastSeason 2, Episode 16 of The Terrible Podcast is up and in Part 1 David Todd and I open with a look at the injury report, updating news on Jerricho Cotchery (bad), Chris Carter (good) and others. Of course Willie Colon isn\’t on that injury report because he is no longer on the Steelers 53-man roster. We thought the Steelers came out of Sunday\’s beating by the Ravens relatively healthy, but it turns out that wasn\’t the case. Colon tore his triceps late in the game and was placed on the IR by the Steelers Tuesday afternoon. We look at who the Steelers signed to fill his spot on the 53-man and discuss why it was not Flozell Adams, Max Starks or another bigger name tackle.

After discussing offensive line personnel we segue into a discussion of O-line blocking and the cut blocking comments the Steelers have made about the Ravens. Mike Tomlin mentioned the Steelers were “grape squashers” on Sunday. Find out if the Steelers are maybe dealing in some other kinds of grapes now.

All of that leads us into a brief discussion of the salary cap and Dave\’s recent article about the financial issues facing the Steelers for the 2012. We will get in to this topic in greater detail as the season progresses, but we look at the question of whether the Steelers really are $20 million of next year\’s cap number and, if so, who is going to happen to solve that.

In Part 2 we interview Eric Williams of the Tacoma News-Tribune. Eric does a great job of bringing us up to speed with what has been going on with the Seahawks from the time the lockout ended through their week 1 loss to the 49ers. Eric also answers our questions about personnel and highlights some players and schemes to watch for in Sunday\’s game. You can follow Eric on Twitter at @Eric_D_Williams to get the latest news on the Seahawks as they prepare to take on the Steelers at Heinz Field, Sunday at 1 PM. Some great insight on this week\’s opponent, one the Steelers only face once every fours years. (Unless of course, you play them in the Super Bowl and yes, of course we asked him about the officiating assignment.)

We\’ll be back with our Game Breakdown and this week\’s picks on our Friday podcast. Thanks for listening!
