The Terrible Podcast – Seahawks Game Recap Episode

Steelers PodcastSeason 2, Episode 18 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I discuss the Steelers first win of the season, a 24-0 beating of an undermanned Seattle Seahawks team. We open by looking at the injury report, which appears to be pretty good after the Week 2 win.

In breaking down the game we look first at the Steelers goal-line offense and whether a change in scheme or personnel needs to be made. On their first possession the Steelers couldn\'t punch it in on fourth down from the one, but they fared better the second time around when Rashard Mendenhall was able to score. With two new linemen starting on the offensive side of the ball Dave and I grade their performance and talk about what we might see going forward. We also look at the continued growth of the Steelers young receivers, all of whom played well Sunday.

Defensively the Steelers really dominated Seattle\'s offense, keeping them out of Steelers territory until late in the game. We look at the performance of William Gay who started in place of Bryant McFadden and analyze the schemes that Dick LeBeau implemented this week after getting carved up by Baltimore last week. The defense really got aggressive late in the game and notched a bunch of sacks. We name a few players who really stood out.

We close by taking a look at results from other games around the league, most notably the Ravens surprising loss to the Titans which left everyone in the division tied with a 1-1 record. We\'ll be back Wednesday to take a look at next week\'s opponent, the Indianapolis Colts. Thanks for listening!

About Dave Bryan

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

I know this is totally unrelated but should they make the yard markers less slippery? Jamal Charles lost for season and Batch too If I remember correctly…

If they’re going to try and use a 4 man rush against “the good Quarterbacks” (which has failed miserably for the most part from what I remember) I would like to see them use more of the guys that would make the best traditional 4-3 penetrating type front like Ziggy (who did that in college), Cam Heyward (who could probably play left end in that scheme as well as DT) use one or both of the outside backers as ends (probably woodley at the least since he has coverage issues) and put Sylvester out there as a faster coverage backer as opposed to Farrior, probably on the weak side. Would be a nice package to get some young guys some more playing time and would probably be more effective as a 4 man rush then using our 3/4 run stoppers as pass rushers which in my opinion will not fly against the Tom Brady’s of the world that require even quicker pressure then usual.
