Maurkice Pouncey Fined $7500 For Late Hit Against Texans

Another weeek and another Steelers player has been fined as center Maurkice Pouncey has been fined $7500 for his late hit Sunday against the Houston Texans per Gerry Dulac on Twitter. The late hit happened at the end of a nice 14-yard run to the Texans 6 yard-line by running back Mewelde Moore with just over one minute left in the first half. Pouncey was flagged 15-yards for unnecessary roughness on the play and it backed the Steelers up to the Texans 21.

The penalty ultimately led to the Steelers drive stalling after 3 consecutive incomplete passes and the attempted 30 yard field goal by Shaun Suisham ended up being blocked and returned for a touchdown. Luckily the Texans were flagged for a an illegal block above the waist though and the touchdown was nullified.

Pouncey now joins Ike Taylor, Troy Polamalu, James Farrior, Doug Legursky and Antonio Brown as Steelers players that have been fined since the start of the season.
