Season 2, Episode 31 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd is on a plane to Las Vegas today so I have Nick Richetta to sit in for David to help me break down the Steelers 17-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars yesterday at Heinz Field.
I ask Nick right off the bat what stuck out the most yesterday to him and it was the accuracy, or lack there of, from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as he missed open receivers several times yesterday and got away with forcing a few balls as well. We wonder if Ben is stats chasing or just trying to spread the ball around too much instead of just taking what is given him at times. I pull out some stats of the completion percentage this year to Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders as we chew on those a little bit.
We talk about the return of Rashard Mendenhall yesterday after sitting out against the Titans last week and how he looked Sunday along with our initial thoughts on how the offensive line played. I will break that down more in depth later in the week per my usual breakdown.
We both agree the defense played well enough to win yesterday, especially in coverage, but note the much less than perfect play of Lawrence Timmons filling in outside in place of James Harrison. We both wonder what will happen if Jason Worilds is healthy this week and if he will start outside should Harrison indeed be out again against the Cardinals. This would allow Timmons to jump back inside where he belongs and allow the Steelers to get a good look at their former 2nd round draft pick.
We both agree that we are worried about kicker Shaun Suisham every time he trots out to kick and plow through some key plays in the second half as we finish the game breakdown by looking at the last couple of series.
We both give our thoughts on the tiff between Jim Harbaugh and Jim Schwartz yesterday to close things out.
