Ben Roethlisberger Named AFC Offensive Player Of The Week Again

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week once again following his 365 yard performance against the New England Patriots this past Sunday at Heinz Field. Roethlisberger set a team record in the game for attempts and completions (50 and 36) in the win. Bobby Layne held the old Steelers attempts-in-a-win record as he threw 49 passes in a win over the Chicago Cardinals back on Dec. 13, 1958. Joe Gilliam threw 50 times in a tie game against Denver Broncos in 1974.

Roethlisberger spread the ball around last week to 9 different Steelers receivers and threw touchdowns to Mewelde Moore and Antonio Brown. He finished the game with a 97.5 passer rating. This is the second time this season that Roethlisberger has been named the AFC player of the week as he also received the award following his 5 touchdown performance against the Titans back in week 5.
