Ben Roethlisberger Injures Ankle In First Half Versus Browns, X-rays Reportedly Negative

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger left the game tonight in the second quarter against Cleveland Browns with ankle injury following a sack. Roethlisberger’s left ankle appeared to get pinned underneath after getting hit by Brian Schaefering and Scott Paxson of the Browns.

Roethlisberger had to be helped off the field and went immediately to the Steelers locker room for examination and X-rays. The X-rays are being reported as negative. Backup quarterback Charlie Batch replaced Roethlisberger at quarterback and the Steelers do not have a 3rd quarterback dressed tonight as Dennis Dixon was one of the 7 game inactives.

Roethlisberger had completed 8 of 9 passes for 102 yards and a touchdown at the time he went down with the injury.

UPDATE: Roethlisberger started second half.
