Prediction Of Week 17 Steelers Inactives Against The Browns

The Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Cleveland Browns Sunday at Cleveland Municipal Stadium as they look to close out the regular season at 12-4. Most of the inactives for this week are pretty easy to decipher with two players already ruled out on the Friday injury report and one listed as doubtful. The big question is who is the 7th inactive this week on the list? As I do every week, here is the prediction of the 7 game inactives for Sunday and a few notes on each of the players. The official inactive list of players will be announced 90 minutes before kickoff and I will have them posted on the site as soon as they are announced.

G/C Doug Legursky – Legursky suffered a left shoulder subluxation against the St. Louis Rams last week on just the second offensive play. He did not return to the game, but could have in case of emergency. He did not practice all week and was ruled out on the Friday injury report. Hopefully he will be ready for the first round of the playoffs as the starting left guard.

RB Mewelde Moore – Moore is still recovering from his MCL sprain in his left knee suffered against the San Francisco 49ers a few weeks ago. He missed the game last weeks against the Rams and was ruled out again on Friday after not practicing all week. Like Legursky, the hope is he will be ready come playoff time. Rookie John Clay will once again get a helmet with Moore out.

OLB LaMarr Woodley – Woodley was listed as doubtful on the Friday injury report after being limited on Wednesday and Thursday. He did not practice on Friday and will be inactive this week as he tries to get his hamstring back to 100% come playoff time. He missed the game last Saturday against the Rams and Sunday will mark his 6th missed game of the season. Jason Worilds will once again get the start in his place at left outside linebacker.

OLB Chris Carter – Carter practiced fully every day this week, but was still listed as questionable on the Friday injury report. He has been bothered by a hamstring injury all season and has only been active for 8 games this season. Look for him to be down once again on Sunday.

T Jamon Meredith – Another week on the inactive list looks certain to be in the cards for Meredith this week. He was only active for 4 games earlier this season with the last time being against the New England Patriots in week 8.

DE Al Woods – Woods has yet to receive a helmet since he was claimed off waivers in early November.

QB Dennis Dixon – The last inactive is hard to predict this week. Will the Steelers really only dress Ben Roethlisberger and Charlie Batch for this game with Roethlisberger still not 100% with his ankle? My guess is yes. The only other candidate would be Emmanuel Sanders in my opinion, but I think they want to try to get him some work this week before the playoffs start. It would not surprise though if he is held out once again however. I would also say there is a very tiny chance that they might rest Troy Polamalu for this game as well. Polamalu showed up on the injury report this week with some sort of knee injury, but managed to practice fully on Friday. It is not likely to happen, but it would not surprise me either.
