Steelers LB Coach Keith Butler Staying With Steelers

Some great news to pass on tonight as Gerry Dulac reports via Twitter that Pittsburgh Steelers linebackers coach Keith Butler is staying with Steelers and will not be the new defensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts. Butler, who now appears to still be the heir apparent to Dick LeBeau, was tops on the list of Colts new head coach Chuck Pagano. Both Butler and Pagano had coached together on the staff of the Cleveland Browns years ago along with former Steelers and new Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians.

According to Dulac, Butler met today with Steelers team president Art Rooney II and head coach Mike Tomlin and decided against going for the interview that was to take place on Tuesday. We are speculating here, but perhaps Butler was told that 2012 might be the final year for LeBeau. We shall see and I will update this story with new information and the reasoning, if any is given, later tonight, but you have to be happy as a Steelers fan tonight.

You let Arians go I would not be suprised if they let Butler move in and let Lebeau go.

Butler needs to be nicely rewarded

No doubt that Lebeau is in his last year.

I am a todd Hailey fan overall but the fact he led what was one of the most inept offenses I’ve ever seen last year has me lacking in confidence.

I am sure he got a fat new contract to talk him out of moving on. I was mildy surprised they didn’t make him assitant head coach last time to lock him up.
