Steelers Mean Joe Greene Coke Knockoff Commercial For Downy To Run Prior To Super Bowl

We all remember the famous Coca-Cola commercial featuring Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Joe Greene begrudgingly receiving an icy cold bottle of Coke from a child fan and throwing the boy his jersey after he gulps it down. Well, 32 years later and Mean Joe Green will be back in another commercial that will air prior to the Super Bowl and it will be a knockoff of his famous Coke commercial that will promote the Downy Unstopables.

The commercial will reportedly air during NBC’s Super Bowl pregame show, between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Greene will reprise his old role, only a much older version, and comic actress Amy Sedaris will play the role of the young kid this time around. In a statement, the now 65-year-old Greene and current Steelers scout said that he “loved the idea of allowing fans to relive such a classic Super Bowl television moment in a completely new and humorous way.”
