Steelers Place Rashard Mendenhall On IR, Sign Anthony Madison

The Pittsburgh Steelers as expected today placed running back Rashard Mendenhall on the season ending injured reserve list today and signed back defensive back Anthony Madison to the 53 man roster to fill the spot. Mendenhall tore the ACL in his right knee on the last play of the first quarter against the Cleveland Browns this past Sunday. The surgery date for Mendenhall has yet to be determined.

Madison is being brought back to help on special teams primarily as the Steelers will likely be without rookie cornerback Cortez Allen, who is recovering from a shoulder injury suffered on Sunday, against the Denver Broncos this week. Head coach Mike Tomlin termed Allen as questionable at best today in his press conference.

Mike Tomlin is the blame should the steelmen ” NOT” make it deep into the playoffs. First, he couldn’t make a decision in the secound Ravens game, delay of game, we lose. Secondly, he didn’t step up to the plate and force Big Ben to rest for the 49ers game. Thirdly and most costly, if we had beat the Raven or the 49ers there wouldn’t have been a need to play mendenhall in the last game. Bring back Cowher…
