The family of Pittsburgh Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson released a statement today to update everyone on his condition. Wilson, who was severely burned during an early morning fire on Jan. 6 at his home, remains hospitalized in critical condition in the Trauma Burn Center at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh according to the release. Wilson sustained burns to over 45 percent of his body in the fire as well as smoke inhalation injuries. The release states that he will need multiple surgeries going forward in his recovery.

“Mr. Kirby Wilson remains in critical condition in the Trauma Burn Center at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh. In addition to burns sustained over 45 percent of his body, he has suffered a smoke inhalation injury and will require multiple operative procedures in the future.”
