The Terrible Podcast – Memphis Tigers Beat Writer Phil Stukenborg & Mark Kaboly Interviews Episode

Steelers PodcastSeason 2, Episode 72 of The Terrible Podcast is up with David Todd tied up in New York, Nick Richetta is back co-hosting as we open up by talking about the recent comments made by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in regards to the loss of offensive coordinator Bruce Arians and his desire to talk to Art Rooney II when he gets back to Pittsburgh about the direction the offense will now take. We stay on Roethlisberger and discuss how much playing time is too much for him in the Pro Bowl this weekend. Nick wishes he wouldn\’t play at all. What about players being able to tweet on Twitter during the game this year? We have a few thoughts and laughs about that as well. We also discuss the recent ESPN Any Era top 20 list that has Roethlisberger, Troy Polamalu, Hines Ward and James Harrison all in the top 10. I am not found of these list usually, but actually like the angle of this one.

34:48 mark: In the second part of the show is my interview with Phil Stukenborg who covers the Memphis Tigers for The Commercial Appeal newspaper. I get his thoughts on Steelers quarterbacks coach Randy Fichtner when he was the offensive coordinator for the Tigers from 2001-2006. We discuss the offense that Fichtner ran there and if he is a legitimate, qualified candidate to be the Steelers next offensive coordinator in his eyes. I also ask Phil about Memphis junior defensive tackle Dontari Poe, who the Steelers very well could have their eyes on in the first round of the 2012 draft, and he gives us the low down on him and another Memphis player that could go in the late rounds of the draft as well. Phil also tells me about the good connections that Fichtner still has at Memphis. It is a great interview and I will be checking back in with Phil right after Poe has his Pro Day in March. You can follow Phil on Twitter at @phil_stukenborg and read his work online at http://www.commercialappeal.com/staff/phil-stukenborg/.

53:41 mark: A little bonus segment on Friday as I also was again able to track down Mark Kaboly, Steelers beat writer for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, to talk more about the Roethlisberger comments, the way Rooney handled the dismissal of Arians and who he thinks might be the Steelers next offensive coordinator. Mark has been a long time friend of the podcast and please make sure you follow him on Twitter at @MarkKaboly_Trib and read his work online at http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/steelers/.

This episode runs 1 hour and 11 minutes, but I think it will be well worth your time. We will try to get them back down under an hour for you in the future.
