Season 2, Episode 65 of The Terrible Podcast is up and with David Todd still on the injury report with (blackjack), Nick Richetta joins me once again this week and we start by recapping the Steelers Wednesday injury report as they get ready to take on the Denver Broncos Sunday in the AFC wild card game. Nick and I move on to start breaking down the matchup on both sides of the ball and get in a lengthy talk about Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow and running back Willis McGahee as it relates to the Broncos use of the option offense. We discuss how the Steelers will likely try to defend against it and who the key player might be in that success. We also talk about how important it is that they do not let the Broncos hang around until the 4th quarter as other teams have done this past season with Tebow under center.
We flip over to the Broncos defense and what we perceive as their strengths and weaknesses. Will the Steelers go run heavy or will they try to stretch the field? We discuss that and how Emmanuel Sanders, Jerricho Cotchery and Heath Miller could all play a bigger part in the offense this week. Who will get the game balls on both offense and defense should the Steelers win? I get Nick to throw out a few predictions.
In the second part of the podcast I get a chance to talk to Steelers running back Chad Spann, who was promoted to the 53 man roster today. We talk about his journey from Northern Illinois to the NFL, his ability to run between the tackles and the type of style running back he is. He tells us about how he received the news about his promotion from the practice squad, his trip to England earlier this year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and what it is like playing on a team with defensive greats like James Harrison and Troy Polamalu. He also fills me in on his Superman nickname.
