Marcus Gilbert Nearly Back To 100% Following Shoulder Surgery

Steelers tackle Marcus Gilbert reported Tuesday evening on Twitter that his surgically repaired shoulder is almost back to 100%. In his tweet Gilbert said specifically, “Great field work today! Almost back to full speed with my shoulder! Couple of more weeks” Gilbert had surgery on what is believed to be his right shoulder on January 25th, which is nearly two months ago.

Gilbert started 13 games as a rookie in 2012 at right tackle after he was pressed into service early because of the triceps injury suffered by starting right tackle Willie Colon in week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens that cost him his season. Gilbert played just over 900 snaps including the playoffs.

Following the season Gilbert announced that he was told that he should be prepared to play left tackle in 2012 as Max Starks, an unrestricted free agent, will likely not be back in 2012. Starks is currently recovering from offsesson surgery as well, as he tore his ACL in the AFC Wild Card loss to the Denver Broncos.
