Steelers To Release Chris Kemoeatu

The releases keep coming and none of them are a surprise as a few the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive linemen are reporting that guard Chris Kemoeatu has been informed of his release. Kemoeatu has played 7 seasons with the Steelers since being drafted in the 6th round of the 2005 NFL draft. He was scheduled to count $5,261,666.00 million against the 2012 salary cap and was under contract through the 2013 season. His release will save $2,392,332 million against the 2012 cap.

Kemoeatu played in just 13 regular season games last year for the Steelers and was bothered by a bad knee. Poor play ultimately led to the Steelers benching him. He started just 8 regular season games last year. Veterans Hines Ward and Aaron Smith have already been informed of their forthcoming releases and James Farrior could be the next to have his contract terminated.
