Season 2, Episode 120 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers decision to release quarterback Troy Smith on Monday and move forward with Jerrod Johnson as their fourth string quarterback heading into training camp. Does Johnson have a prayer at making the 53 man roster or is he looking to just impress enough to warrant being signed to the practice squad? David and I discuss it.
I talked to former Steelers kicker Jeff Reed on the Friday podcast and that leads to David and I having a debate about kicker Shaun Suisham, and if the Steelers should be considering better competition for him at training camp. Should we be happy with the way Suisham kicked last year? Not really.
Seventh round draft pick Kelvin Beachum received some recent praise from General Manager Kevin Colbert and David and I discuss it. We also continued to be impressed with the off-season conditioning program of Ziggy Hood as well as a new video was sent out Tuesday morning to me from his trainer Bill Nichol.
David and I discuss a few recent articles up on Pro Football Focus that center around pass rushing and cornerbacks and we also discuss how the flat cap, that is predicted for the 2013 season, affects the Steelers and some of the big names under contract.
We close out the show by answering a few questions that came in via Twitter and email.
