Three Steelers Rank In Forbes List Of World\’s 100 Highest-Paid Athletes Of Past Year

Forbes Magazine released its list of the 100 Highest-Paid Athletes in the World over the past year on Tuesday and three Pittsburgh Steelers cracked the list.

Linebacker LaMarr Woodley leads the way for the black and gold as he ranked 32nd overall. Forbes list his total earnings as $26.5 million, of which 26.3 million is salary and another $150,000 in endorsements. Woodley of course signed a new deal last off-season that included a $13 million signing bonus and a $4 million roster bonus.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger finished a few spots behind Woodley at 43rd overall with a total earnings of 23.3 million according the magazine. Only $1 million of the amount was earned from endorsements.

Linebacker Lawrence Timmons was the last Steelers player listed and he came in ranked 78th overall. His total earnings over the last year is listed as $18.6 million, of which only $500,000 came in the form of endorsements. Like Woodley, Timmons signed a contract extension before the start of the 2011 season that included a $10 million signing bonus, a $1 million roster bonus and another $6.425 bonus that was due in March.

All three players just so happened to restructure their contracts this past off-season for the Steelers to provide cap relief.

Only one of those 3 players listed played as well as they were paid. It seemed Woodley was non existant before his hamstring injury. What happened?

ummm Wdmason he had 7 sacks in if im correct 4 games, which is insane. He was going for his 8th when he got injured. Bro watch film

The top NFL earner was Peyton Manning (10th) followed by Haloti Ngata (12th) and Larry Fitzgerald (13th).

Yes I seem to remember he finally came on. I guess Im referring to the first few games. Remember? Overall I was a little disappointed in his season. I am sure he can do better and will do better.

Sorry no time to go back and watch film bro but I found this: “After recording only one and a half sacks in the Steelers first four games, linebacker LaMarr Woodley has exploded with five and a half sacks in the last three games, giving him seven on the season”.

True after 4 poor games he started to come on and was injured. Why was Woodley so nonexistant in the first 4 games? This was not troubling to you trebrown for such a highly paid player?

See A. Smith passed his prime. Ziggy came in and Woodley didn’t need to compensate for Smith.

How is Timmons making 350,000 more in endorsements than Woodley. Looks like Woodley needs a different agent lol
