Heath Miller & Alameda Ta\’amu Suffer Minor Injuries On Thursday

The Pittsburgh Steelers wrapped up their first full day of practice at Latrobe on Thursday before the rains yet. Neither of the two practices were in pads with the morning session being mainly a walk-thru.

Head coach Mike Tomlin said during his post practice press conference that tight end Heath Miller (ankle) and rookie nose tackle Alameda Ta\’amu are both dealing with mild injuries. With Miller it was an ankle injury suffered today, while Ta\’amu hurt his foot on Wednesday and did not work today.

The six players that are currently on the Active PUP list of course also remain sidelined and they are linebacker James Harrison (knee), linebacker Jason Worilds (wrist), nose tackle Casey Hampton (knee), tackle Max Starks (knee), running back Rashard Mendenhall (knee) and safety DaMon Cromartie-Smith (shoulder).

The players working first team on the offensive line today were left-to-right: Trai Essex, Willie Colon, Maurkice Pouncey, Ramon Foster and Marcus Gilbert. Rookies Mike Adams and David DeCastro both rotated in at left tackle and right guard respectively.

Keenan Lewis started at outside cornerback opposite Ike Taylor, while Chris Carter started at right outside linebacker with both Harrison and Worilds sidelined.

Tomlin also indicated that running back Baron Batch has progressed well from his torn ACL suffered late in training camp last year by saying that he can\’t even remember what happened to him last August.
