Max Starks Removed From PUP List

Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is reporting Tuesday morning that veteran tackle Max Starks is being removed from the Active PUP list today and that he can resume practice fully on Friday. Kaboly states that Starks will not play Sunday night when the Steelers host the Indianapolis Colts at Heinz Field. That means Marcus Gilbert, who has taken first team reps at the left tackle spot this week in practice, will start at left tackle Sunday night with rookie Mike Adams sidelined with a sprained knee.

Starks, who tore the ACL in his right knee during the Steelers playoff loss to the Denver Broncos, is now right at seven months removed from his surgery and has been working on the side with trainers since training camp started. He was signed to the roster just prior to training camp getting underway after getting a good progress report health wise from the Steelers team doctors in mid July.

While he will not play Sunday against the Colts, one would figure he should be able to play against the Buffalo Bills the following week, but that has yet to be written in stone. Starks is the odds on favorite to start week one in Denver against the Broncos.
