Report: James Harrison Back In Pittsburgh To Have Knee Examined

Last night it was reported by Mike Bires of The Beaver County Times that Pittsburgh Steelers starting right outside linebacker James Harrison quite possibly could need his knee scoped over the course of the coming weeks if it does not improve. On Wednesday, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reported that Harrison is back in Pittsburgh today to have that knee examined.

The report by Bires was based on a conversation he had with Harrison\’s agent, Bill Parise, who said Harrison might have to get the irritation behind his knee cap cleared up that is is currently causing it to swell.

Harrison has been on the Steelers PUP list since arriving to training camp and has not practiced since the first OTA practice a few months ago. To make matters worse, Harrison has been relegated to working out inside under the watchful eyes of the Steelers training staff as opposed to working out on the field with the other players currently on the PUP list.

As it looks right now, we can probably expect word to come that Harrison will go ahead now and get that minor surgery done with hopes that he might be ready for the week 1 game against the Denver Broncos. Should he not be 100%, the Steelers might be forced to place him on the Reserve PUP list to start the season, which would mean that he would be forced to sit out the first 6 weeks of the season.
