Steelers Injury Report: Isaac Redman Expected To Start Against Bills

Some very good news on the injury front as Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Friday morning that Pittsburgh Steelers running back Isaac Redman will play Saturday night against the Buffalo Bills after making it through a full week of practice.

“I\’m anxious to get out there,” Redman said via the report by Fittipaldo. “I want to get out there and play and give it my all.”

Redman was forced to sit out the Steelers second preseason game Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts with a hip injury. The injury was first believed to be a groin problem, but an MRI performed last week showed no significant problems. Up until now the status of Redman for the game at Buffalo was unclear and head coach Mike Tomlin did not mention him in his run down of injured players during his Thursday press conference.

Redman was on the field for 11 plays in the Steelers first preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles and carried the ball just 5 times for 14 yards. His longest run was 5 yards and he also caught 1 pass for 5 yards on the very first play of the game.

It is unknown how many snaps Redman will play Saturday night Buffalo, but Tomlin did indicate that the starters were expected to plat at least the first half. Backups Jonathan Dwyer, Baron Batch and Chris Rainey all figure to get a fair amount of work in the game as well.

Tomlin let it be known on Thursday that running backs Rashard Mendenhall (knee) and Jason Ford (hamstring) would not travel with the team to Buffalo. Mendenhall was just removed from the Active PUP list last Friday and is not close to being ready yet for game action. Ford is dealing with a hamstring injury.
