Steelers RB Jonathan Dwyer Says Left Shoulder Sprain Not Serious

Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports on Friday that the left shoulder sprain suffered Thursday night by Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jonathan Dwyer in the preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles is not considered serious. The injury according to Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was deemed a sprain of the AC joint. Kaboly reports Dwyer will undergo treatment and only be out short amount of time. There is no structural damage or motion issues, only pain.

Josina Anderson of ESPN reports Dwyer told her, “It\’s like a sprain, nothing serious. It\’s nothing to freak out about. They did an X-ray on me but everything is okay. I still feel sore. We don\’t play again until the 19th so I still have some time. I don\’t know if they will let me practice, but I will be fine.”

Dwyer also told Anderson when it happened in the game. “It actually happened earlier in the game in the first quarter,” said Dwyer via Anderson. “When I was falling down I put my arm out to brace myself and someone got a shot on my shoulder. I just kept going though until the second quarter. I had a run for like 33 yards and I knew I couldn\’t pump my arms like I wanted to. I didn\’t feel right so I came out. They checked me out and everything was in place, but the coaches told me just to relax and rest up. I felt like I could have gone back in though.”

Dwyer told Anderson, “I can lift my arm over my head now. It just feels sore.”
