Steelers Release John Clay After Reaching Injury Settlement

The Pittsburgh Steelers have reached an injury settlement with running back John Clay and he has been released according to Ed Bouchette on Twitter.

Clay, who was originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin last year, suffered a torn quad a week ago this past Sunday. Clay had been waived injured originally and placed on injured reserve according to reports.

Clay spent the better part of his rookie season on the Steelers practice squad. He was promoted to the 53 man roster late in the season and saw his first action against the St. Louis Rams in week 16. On his first NFL carry, Clay scored a touchdown from 10 yards out.
