Mike Tomlin Post Game Press Conference – Jets – Week 2

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin held his post game press conference following the 27-10 win over the New York Jets at Heinz Field and below is the short recap and audio of the presser.

Tomlin started by saying it was a redemption week for the team and an appropriate response to the loss last week at Denver. He said that\’s what good teams in the NFL do. They might not always be perfect, but they respond. Tomlin says obviously it wasn\’t a perfect performance by any stretch, but that\’s life. He said they will learn from it and prepare for their next challenge.

Tomlin says their really weren\’t any changes after the Jets opening touchdown drive. He said that the defense just knuckled down and played better.

Tomlin said quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was sharp today, but that nobody was surprised by it. They have come to expect that and Roethlisberger and that he expects that from himself. He delivered for the team today. Tomlin called Roethlisberger an “A” player.

tomlin was not asked about injuries in the game and did not volunteer any information.

I saw a change in the defense after the ugly first series in which they played soft coverage and got eaten alive. Then they started using a lot of press coverage and were far more successful slowing down the Jets offense. Halleluiah.
