Steelers Defensive Coverage Stats Versus Jets – Week 2

Below are the coverage stats for the Pittsburgh Steelers following their Sunday home opening win against the New York Jets.

I always like to warn with these stats that Steelers play a whole lot of zone coverage so don\’t get so caught up in completion percentages. The best thing to look at is the length of the completions and the yards after catch number in my opinion. The Steelers defense prides itself on wrapping up quickly after the catch and not allowing a lot of YAC.

Interesting you charged that 45 yard pass to Kerley to Lewis, I haven’t seen a full 22 but it looked liked Taylor had Holmes, Lewis had Hill and Mundy had Kerley on that play. Fortunately Lewis ran him down from behind and prevented the TD, but I think he started out with (too soft in my opinion) coverage on Hill. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Hill didn’t get much done considering how he performed the week before, I like this secondary, I think we’ll be better than the #1 pass defense we had last season.
