Steelers Injury Report – Polamalu, Harrison, Sylvester & Dwyer Listed As Not Practicing

The Pittsburgh Steelers were back on the practice field on Wednesday in preparation for their week 2 game this coming Sunday against the New York Jets.

The Wednesday injury report is now out and it shows that safety Troy Polamalu (calf) did not practice today after he suffered a left calf strain in the loss Sunday night to the Denver Broncos. Head coach Mike Tomlin said during his Tuesday press conference that Polamalu would likely be limited at the first part of the week in practice, but that he should be ready to play come Sunday.

Linebacker James Harrison (knee), linebacker Stevenson Sylvester (knee) and running back Jonathan Dwyer (foot) also reportedly sat out the Wednesday session. Sylvester is recovering still from a torn MCL suffered late in training camp and most likely will miss the game Sunday. Tomlin said on Tuesday that Harrison was scheduled to run today in hopes that they could increase his activity later in the week.

Dwyer not practicing is a bit of a surprise as Tomlin did not mention him in his Tuesday press conference as being injured. Thursday will give us a better picture if he is at risk of not playing this week. Tomlin stated on Tuesday that the third year running back would likely see more opportunities this week against the Jets thanks to his play during the preseason and the game Sunday night against the Broncos.

Also on the Wednesday injury report was defensive end Ziggy Hood (back), who is listed as being limited. Running back Rashard Mendenhall (knee) was listed as fully participation on Wednesday.

Guard Ramon Foster (eye) and tackle Marcus Gilbert (knee) practiced fully on Wednesday after leaving the Sunday night game against the Broncos injured. Tomlin stated on Tuesday that both could be limited at the start of the week, but it appears they are good to go.
