Steelers Jersey Number Changes On Tap For Golden, Robinson & Johnson

Don\’t rush out and buy those new Pittsburgh Steelers jerseys of undrafted free agents Robert Golden and Adrian Robinson just yet, as they both will be changing numbers given them during the offseason this week.

Golden has announced via Twitter that he will be switching from No. 30 to No. 21, while Robinson has put in a request to switch from No. 46 to No. 91, which of course belonged to the great Aaron Smith.

Linebacker Brandon Johnson figures to switch from No. 48, that he currently shares with tight end David Paulson, to No. 57 or No. 59, being has linebackers can\’t wear numbers in the 40\’s. Johnson wore 59 with the Bengals, but we shall see if he gets that well respected black and gold number.

I can understand if Robinson gets #91 as Smith has not been retired that long. Johnson getting #59 however is simply wrong and it should not happen.

I can understand #91 going out. Smith was one of the best ever DE’s in the 3-4 but he has not been retired that long.

Giving out Ham’s #59 simply should never happen. He is a HoF player and his number needs to be permanently retired.

Steelers don’t retire numbers they just don’t give them out.
