Steelers Passing & Rushing Stats By Personnel Groupings Versus Jets

Below are the passing and rushing stats from the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-10 win over the New York Jets this past Sunday broken down by personnel groupings.

While the overall run/pass balance was about even in the game, 13 of the 28 rushes came when the offense used 13 personnel, which is 1 running back and 3 tight ends. No passes were thrown out of that grouping.

When in 11 personnel, which utilizes 3 wide receivers, 12 of the 15 plays were pass plays and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was sacked on 1 of those 15.

Something to keep your eye on when tight end Weslye Saunders returns is the 12 personnel grouping, as I believe Todd Haley will likely start upping the usage of it as the season progresses. That grouping, especially on early downs, gives the offense the best ability to be multiple based on what defense they are seeing.
