Steelers Injury Report: Mendenhall Ruled Out, Redman Questionable, Pouncey Probable
The Pittsburgh Steelers wrapped up practice preparations on Friday for the Sunday game at Heinz Field against the Washington Redskins and the final injury report for the Week 8 game is now out.
As expected, safety Troy Polamalu (calf) and tackle Marcus Gilbert (ankle) have been ruled out for the game. Head coach Mike Tomlin had announced on Tuesday during his press conference that neither would be ready this week.
Also ruled out on Friday were running back Rashard Mendenhall (Achilles) and linebacker Brandon Johnson (hamstring). Mendenhall was unable to practice all week and will miss his second consecutive game as a result. Johnson was able to practice Wednesday on a limited basis, but Friday makes two straight practices that he was unable to do work.
Running back Isaac Redman (ankle) was able to work again on Friday after also being limited on Thursday and he is listed as questionable on the Friday injury report. He is holding out hope that Tomlin will allow him to play. Jonathan Dwyer is expected to start at running back regardless if Redman dresses for the game.
Center Maurkice Pouncey (knee), safety Will Allen (ankle), linebacker Adrian Robinson (concussion), linebacker Chris Carter (hamstring), and kicker Shaun Suisham (ankle) were all able to work again on Friday and all are listed as probable. Both Pouncey and Carter had sat out the game Sunday night because of their injuries, but both should now be ready to go Sunday against the Redskins.
Linebacker Jason Worilds (illness) will also play Sunday night.
